Nepal visa for American citizens

If you are an American citizen, you need a visa to enter Nepal. You can choose between three types of tourist visa:

  • 15 days
  • 30 days
  • 90 days

Nepal entry requirements for us citizens

The government of Nepal only issues visas upon arrival through major entry points like Tribhuvan International Airport. What you can do before is a pre-visa which is a prior approval that you will exchange for the actual visa once you arrive in the country. This Arrival Card gives you assurance that you will be granted entry.

The good thing is that this pre-visa can be obtained online in a simple process. Once you get it, this is what you will need to enter Nepal:

  • Arrival Card or pre-visa: it must be printed
  • Passport: it must have a validity of at least 6 months since the day of entry and at least one blank page
  • Recent passport size picture taken within the year
